100.2% we are going.

Giving my 2 weeks notice last week with my current job felt good. Not because I absolutely hated my current job but because of the adventure that lies ahead. I will really miss many of the interesting characters at Webtrends. Hopefully many of them will make the voyage down to Costa Rica to visit.

Both Roberta and I have our plane tickets so we are definately going. Here is our current schedule in April:

1st: Hasta Luego party at our house.
2nd: Baby goat party at my parents house.
4th: I leave for Houston in the morning.
8th: Roberta and Vida fly to San Jose, CR
17th: I fly to San Jose, CR
18th: Jumping up in down in joy

99.9% We are going.

We had better be because I told my boss yesterday that I was leaving. Brett finalized the financing with the CFO and is currently putting the finishing touches on the contract. The main waiting point was getting the CFO to ok the cash. We are good to go.

Brett sent the email that it was accepted and I was jumping up and down. Roberta was gone but she was supposed to be back soon. I printed out the email and tacked it to the front door. All that I heard was muffled screaming from the front door when Roberta got home. We have been waiting for this for a while.

Roberta is gone for 5 days to San Francisco but when she gets back it is going to be a whirlwind of work and then **BAM**, we will be in Costa Rica.

Damn... Looks like we have no idea what is happening.

We are still waiting for the final word from Houston on the contract. The correct people are working on it and pushing hard to make it happen. There is a little log jam at the top of the chain that just needs some nudging. The main man said that he will have an answer by Thursday(3/17/05) either way. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

Maybe I will become a professional waiter.

We are still in a holding pattern waiting for more signatures from the NetIQ camp. Sounds like Shreenivas's contract went through yesterday but there were a few details that legal needed to complete the contract for me. Hopefully this week everything will get finalized and we can start the final planning phase. If not then maybe I will become a professional waiter.

Damn... Looks like we are going.

I destinctly remember the look in Roberta's eyes when she first said the statement "I wanna move here". We had just got done with a string of days that involved nothing more than playing in the water and eating incredible food. What I hadn't told her was that we actually had that opportunity.

Security Reporting Center(SRC), the product that I had last worked on with Webtrends, got moved to Houston. In the process I got transfered up to the web analytics department. Over time more and more questions were coming through about how to handle issues in the product. There was my in to get on as a contracter and move to Costa Rica.

The day after we got back from our wonderful vacation I gave the manager of SRC a call and asked him about having me pick up the contract for maintenance on the product. Since then we have been working out the details of the contract.

Last week we hit a snag when the contract went to legal and they flipped out over the fact that the work was going to be done in Costa Rica and there was encryption in the product. I guess this is a large no-no for export compliance. Roberta and I have been drinking ourselves silly waiting for the answer from legal.

Then today I get and email from Brett in Houston. I saw the email hit my inbox and it had a title of "And the results are....". I instantly called up Roberta who was at work and we opened the email together. I had my hand over my face like it was some horror movie and the monster was about to bit someones head off. ** Click ** And now we are going to Costa Rica.

There is much work to be done and ducks to get in rows before we can leave but at least we have three weeks to do it in.
