Earthquakes and Volcanos - Oh My!

I have yet to experience any earthquakes or volcanos in New Zealand, I can't wait. In Portland we had Mt. St. Helens, which blew big time when I was in the first grade. I can remember ashes everywhere. We had some small tremors in Southern Oregon.

And of course, there were lots of tremors in Costa Rica, not to mention the lava flowing at Arenal. You could watch it flow sitting in hotsprings below.

Check out this link, it looks like Mt. Ruapehu crater lake is going to burst.

I felt like I should leave a comment after your post about comments and the St Helen's reference did it for me:) I've been popping in to read your blog occasionally since I emailed about our move from Portland to Wellington. Back to blowing up mountains, when St Helens went, I was in preschool at the time. It wasn't until years later that I realized that it wasn't a semi-frequent event like snow. Thanks for the link about Mount Ruapehu - Shannon

Shared memories are good, especially when you don't know each other. I realized I was far away from home when I was hanging out with some people, and somehow I made a reference to the 'dead', you know the Grateful Dead? Nobody in the room had heard of them. I thought, crap, I AM a long way from home with no shared memories of Oregon hippies!

I hope your move is doing well. I'll give you a shout if I'm in Wellington.
